引言
现代汉语中,有标志的被动句是指被动句中出现"被""让""叫""给"等直接表示被动意义的句子;在英语中,有标志的被动句通常可以以这样的公式表述:"be/get(系动词)+V-en(动词的过去分词)+(by 短语)"。关于两种语言有标志的被动句的分类情况前文已经进行了系统的阐述,此处不赘述。
一、 句子中有施动者的情况
在汉语被动句中的"被""让""叫""给"等短语和英语被动句中的"by"引导的短语,都有着相同的语法作用,就是引出施事者。例如:
钱包被他拿走了。
(施动者是"他")
He was beaten by his father.
他被父亲打了。(施动者是"his father"。)
(一) 二者在句子中的位置不同
"被""让""叫""给"等短语和"by"引导的短语都在句子当中充当状语成分,一般情况下,现代汉语中状语的位置会出现在主语之后,包括"被""让""叫""给"等及其短语结构。例如:
我被老师狠狠地批评了。("被老师"放在主语"我"之后。)
在英语中,句子的表达、构成则跟汉语不一样,谓语动词在句子中充当了最重要的成分,作为修饰成分的状语可以放在句子的前面也可以放在句子的后面,不拘一格。例如:
I was caught by the rain.
By the rain I was caught.
和这两个例句都表示"我被大雨浇了",意思没有区别,而且这两种表达形式在英语中都符合语法习惯。
(二) 介词与宾语的关系不同
现代汉语中的"被""让""叫""给"等词与施事宾语的关系不是绑定的,相对来说比较自由,"被""让""叫""给"等词可以与施事宾语同时出现,也可以只出现"被""让""叫""给"等词,不出现施事宾语。例如:
小树被人齐刷刷砍倒一片。
在这里如果不出现施事宾语"人",句子也是成立的,可以写成"小树被齐刷刷砍倒一片。"
英语句子中的介词"by"和宾语有着很强的粘着性,不能分开,当英语被动句中的施事者不需要指出或无法指出的时候,施事者就不必在句子中出现,因此,介词"by"也一定不会在句子中出现。例如:
I was beaten by him.
我被他打了。
(三)句法地位不同
上文中指出,在英语中,by短语在整个句子中充当的是修饰谓语动词的状语成分,因此英语的被动句中可以有by短语,也可以没有by短语,对句子的影响不大,除非是句子需要特别强调by what/who(被什么、被谁等),否则by短语都可以不在被动句中出现。在现代汉语中"被""让""叫""给"等字或短语中的"被""让""叫""给"是句子之所以称之为被动句的形式标志,如果去掉"被""让""叫""给"等字或短语,余下的句子不仅不会是被动句,甚至表达的意义也会完全不同了,因此绝对不能去掉。例如:
I was cheated by the man.
我被那个男人骗了。
由以上三点可以看出,现代汉语中的"被""让""叫""给"等短语在被动句中不可或缺,而英语中的by短语可有可无。然而,前文也有所交代,如果句子需要特别强调by what/who(被什么、被谁等)这部分时,by短语就不能省略,它必须出现,而且是句子的重要语义点。例如:
He was murdered by his wife.
他被他妻子谋杀了。(杀他的人是他的妻子,而不是别人。)
无论是英语中的书面语被动句还是口头表达中的被动句,对其中施事者出现的规律可归纳如下:
1、施动者是指艺术家,发明家,发现者,革新者等的专有名词时,例如:

2、施动者是非确定性名词短语,即新信息,而保留施动者是为了向听话人提供新信息,例如:
His wallet was stolen by a ugly man.

3、施动者是非生物性名词短语,之所以保留它,是因为它不是意料之中的事,也就是说,我们预料的施动者是属生物性的,而几乎所有被省略的施动者都有可以用属生物性的名词形式还原,例如:

二、 句子中没有施动者的情况
在现代汉语及英语句子当中都存在着不出现施动者的被动结构,那么,英语中的这种结构就是由"be/get(系动词)+V-en(动词的过去分词)"构成的,但不出现by短语,而在现代汉语中也有着不使用"被""叫""让""给"等明确表示被动情况的字或短语,但在这种情况下,施动者还是会出现的。例如:
The president was shot dead.
总统被射杀了。(具体是谁射杀的没有出现。)
这栋大楼是一位著名的建筑师设计的。
在有标志的英语被动句中,如果没有出现by短语用来表明施动者的时候,大多数情况是泛指,而有的时候是无法说出或者很难说出施动者。在现代汉语的被动句中,如果不出现施动者,则说明是泛指。如果是某一个人所为,那么通常加施动者。
例如:
His wallet was stolen.
他的钱包被偷了。(谁偷了钱包并不清楚,无法说出,很难说出。)
张老师被李强投诉体罚了学生。
(很明确是"李强"投诉了张老师,而不是别人。)
张老师被投诉体罚了学生。
