长腿叔叔英文读后感【二】

"Daddy-long-legs" the title sounds like a children's book, but after I read this book have a thorough understanding about it. It is not only our growth need to read in the book, in which more let us know what is happiness, and how to treat happiness...

I first to briefly describe the main content of the story:

A orphanages girl Judy, was a had been her casual glimpse on the wall, the headlights spin figure of the mysterious figures sent to go to college. At this point she started a new study and life. Judy will send a letter every month for the mystery man, but when she dawned on her letter never have echo, she began to daddy-long-legs a little complain of youth and dismiss the seeds of rebellion within the orphanage and stir. Until she met Jeff eloquent, again to daddy-long-legs as a confidant. From the simple closed environment come to the colorful world, Judy always proud I never feed. As she considered and brother-in-law to express love confession, daddy-long-legs finally appeared, and actually is, Jeff. Although Jane Webster with simple letters as the writing of this book, but Judy each sentence is full of girl is sensitive to subtle moods and emotions. The more simple the more the connotation of the story it close to the life, the more let people remember. This is "daddy-long-legs" type of books. Can be either relatives and friends, also can be one thing or things, and then choose to give up in order. Although is a brutal choice, that kind of pain is really deep, that moment, do you find, what they actually have a lot of can't give up, I am to have a lot of nice and happy things, more important is the happiness and joy is that we have not noticed it.

So imagine if you are as an orphan, as Judy when all returns to zero, what we need is a new beginning, a new struggle, a new life. Facing all irreparable situation when that kind of pain in mind forever. Although the orphans in everyone seems to be a poor life. But if everyone in the beginning of his life for a period of time to do a orphans, may also be a kind of happiness. Loneliness makes us more cherish together, will tell us how to love, how to cherish the love around you. We often did not appreciate what we have, often complain about not kind, has been constantly miss lost or not, this is what people sad and defects.

Nothing will be omniscient, after losing to cherish all now, just grateful to learn to give, which is exactly what we need to understand and assigned to the action.

We need to remember is "life need miracle, and the greatest miracle is yourself". If you can recognize these truth, so we don't waste to reading this book, do not waste the publication of this book.

长腿叔叔英文读后感【三】

This is a fast-tempo society, everybody has an established time schedule and lives in his own world. It is love and communication that combines our different worlds together. However, as we spend too much time chasing our goals and dreams, we have ignored the partners and friends around us more or less. So that one day, when we suddenly pause and think, we find ourselves getting lost in the human crowd.

After reading Daddy-Long-Legs, I am forced to stop and rethink, and save myself out of the confusing crowd. When I was young, I read a lot of romantic fairy tales, and have builded up a wonderful fictitious world in my mind. However, when I gradually grow up and enter the society, the real world appears to be completely different from what I have thought. Hence, I feel very upset about the fraudulent tales, and begin to refuse the deceptive social intercourse. This attitude has helped me to maintain a pure heart, but meanwhile drived the love and friendship away from me. As a result, I’ve always been alone. So although I study very hard and obtain good grades, I’m not happy at all, my life has been filled with depression and coldness for a long period. It is Daddy-Long-Legs that makes me believe in love and miracles again.

Just like the fairy tales, this story is very romantic and beautiful, too. However, as there are no princess or beast, this novel is more close to our real life. It is about an orphan who is so humorous and hardworking that she finally gains her true love.

Judy Abbott was the heroine of the whole book, she was brought up at an old-fashioned asylum. When she was young, she had to wholly depend on the charity and wear other people’s cast-off clothes, this makes her very self-contemptuous. Nevertheless, the miserable fact doesn’t sweep away her good sense of humor, on the contrary, it gives her a special ability to express her feelings in a funny way.

One day, Judy is informed by the asylum’s dour matron that one of the trustees has offered to send her to college. This mysterious man believes that Judy has potential to become an excellent writer, he decides to pay her tuition fees and gives her a generous monthly allowance. He doesn’t ask for any thanks or repayment, but requires Judy to write him a monthly letter to practise her writing skills. However, Judy will never know his real identity; she must address the letters to Mr. John Smith, and he will never reply.

Judy catches a glimpse of the shadow of her benefactor, and knows he is a tall man. Because of this, she jokingly calls him “Daddy-Long-Legs”。 Later, Judy attends a women’s college, and begins to write letters to her trustee. As she is good at describing anecdotes with childlike line drawings, her letters appear to be interesting and meaningful. Afterwards, Judy gets stuck in the affection entanglement with Jervie, this makes her extremely confused. She tries to consult her Daddy-Long-Legs and finally succeeds. However, when she meets the secret man, miracle happens. She finds that Jervie, the man she really loves, is Daddy-Long-Legs, who has always supported her as a relative. Then the story comes to an happy ending, they get married and live a happy life.

I love this story because it demonstrates an ideal world which is full of kindness and warmth, although there is a huge gap between the main roles. It shows that miracles do happen to those who are always hopeful. So no matter how bitter the life is, we should never lose our faith, we must believe that tomorrow will be better. Life is a long way filled with misfortune and adversity, we should learn to confront it bravely. Because when we shed tears for missing the sun, we shall also miss the stars.

When Judy is in the orphanage, she is all alone in the world and almost doesn’t have anything belong to her, but she still lives happily with optimism. Compared with Judy, today’s adolescents are much more fragile. Take a glance at the newspapers and TV programmes, you may not be surprised to find so many youngsters committing suicide, because it is just too common in today’s society. This reveals that today’s young people are too pessimistic and hopeless, thus they won’t treasure their life seriously. This problem is quite alarming among the poor students from the countryside, since they have to face more obstacles and barriers, they are more stressful than their peers. For example, last year a college girl who named Liu wei ended her life because of the unbearable financial pressure. As a result, it is quite urgent for the society to show their loving care to the disadvantaged group.

However, the fact is still far from being. In China, the rich people seem to be more and more cruel and coldhearted toward the poor class. They prefer to take advantage of their dominant strength to exploit others’ industrial fruits rather than help the people who are not so lucky as them. So the economic gap between the rich and poor is still expanding. Furthermore, the wealthy people also discriminate and look down upon the impecunious group, which gives them a strong feeling of inferiority. I experienced this feeling when I just attended the university, at that time, many classmates tended to exclude and spurn me, my roommates even refused to use the same washing machine with me just because my dressing was antipathetic to them. I felt insulted. Hence, I am confused that why don’t the well-fixed people be like Daddy-Long-Legs?

In this book, Daddy-Long-Legs is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a kindhearted philanthropist. He always uses his fortune to help others without expecting any return, and respects the poor people just as his friends. So although he is among the hypocritical trustees, Judy likes him specially. This proves that conscience and kindness will lead to love and happiness, moreover, if everyone treats others sincerely and selflessly, the world will become a better place to live.

In addition, Daddy-Long-Legs also reminds me to treasure the love and friendship in my life. I realise that I’m not alone at all, at least I’m not an orphan, so I am much luckier than Judy to some extent, because she has nobody to rely on except her Daddy-Long-Legs, but I have my parents and friends who will always be there for me to turn to. As a result, I decided to write letters to my parents by imitating Judy’s writing style. When my parents received the letters, they were pleased, which indicated that my letters were grateful and effective. As my parents never went to college, they were quite interested in the campus life, and my letters presented them an active and wonderful university image, so they were delighted. Besides, since I have got a channel to express my feelings and understandings about different people and circumstances, I don’t feel lonely any longer, especially when I received their reply, I felt very happy and contented. It is true that Daddy-Long-Legs has made my family life more joyous and harmonious.

What’s more, Daddy-Long-Legs also teaches me to show my gratitude to the people who really care and love me. For quite a long time, I live in my own world solely and gloomily, regardless of others’ feeling or doing, thus my world has become so small and cold. But when I try to view things in an appreciative way, subtle changes occur in my life. I find more friendly greetings and smiles on the way, and I usually feel accommodative in the class. I think I’m blending into the group and my life circle is being enlarged, this feeling is quite joyful for me.

瓦尔登湖英文版读后感【1】

Walden is a masterpiece written by Henry David Thoreau (1817-1862), who was born in Concord, Massachusetts.  The age he lived had witnessed the flourish of capitalism as well as the  prosperity of industrialization and urbanization. During the 19th century, the American economy developed at so fast rate that  most people were bound up in pursuing the material satisfaction , while ingored the spiritual life to a great extent. But Thoreau was quite different from other people, he disdained the modern civilization and attached  more importance to the spirit than the material. He thought many people of his time lived in a non-human-like modern society and many modern appliances, such as trains and telegraphs, had done harm to people's harmonious life peace and also broken the relationship between human and nature.

In order to prove that without the modern instruments , people can also live a happy life, in 1845, he moved into a cabin on the shore of Walden Pond and live there alone for two years to get close to the nature .Walden, is the famous book mainly talks about his life and thoughts during those days living in the woods .

Thoreau was so happy with the life living near the lake of Walden that he felt it a sweet grace to have the nature' accompany and even the sounds of rain and the sights around his house were full of sincere friendship. In his eyes, the nature was an intimate friend of him and all things in the nature were lively and vivacious.  And all kinds of animals in the wood, such as field mouses, robins and wild rabbits were amicably treated and regarded as his adorable companions. He even thought that plants were also had the right to live equal with human beings. Just because of this, he even blamed himself for hitting chestnut trees with stones. From many words or sentences, we can easily feel Thoreau's deep love and care towards nature.

Besides, Thoreau was a pioneering nature lover, who called on people to stop destorying nature but protect it by setting himself   an example to others. The consciousness of the environmental protection is becoming more and more important in our modern society, while the whole world is trapped in some serious ecological crisises resulting from hunting and killing animals, cutting down trees and polluting the rivers for pursuit of human beings' own interests. We  all have the common sense that the number of wildlife is decreasing, the area of lake is shrinking, and the water is not clear any more. What's worse, environment problems such as globe warming, climate change and air and water pollution are deteriorating during the commercial process . So it's high time that we should realize we never be the dominator of the whole world conquring nature, but should spare no efforts to improve the environment right away. That is, we should comply with the natural laws, make reasonable utilization of natural resources and keep the harmonious development between the society and the environment. Only in this way will we has an opportunity to embrace a bright future and achieve a sustainable society .

In the book, Walden, Thoreau not only advocated the protection of nature, but also encourage people to comprehend and return to nature. He told us using his own experience that by living a simple life close to nature, we human beings will find out the true value of life and significance of existence.

After reading the book, what impressed me most is the description of the fascinating scenery around the Walden pound, especially these sentences: "A lake is the landscape's most beautiful and expressive feature. It is earth's eye; looking into which the beholder measures the depth of his own nature. The fluviatile trees next the shore are the slender eyelashes which fringe it, and the wooded hills and cliffs around are its overhanging brows". To Thoreau, the Walden lake is like a charming and melting girl , who has slender eyelashes and likes to dress herself in different beautiful clothes with the changes of different seasons.

Every morning after getting up, Thoreau would have a bath in the Walden lake to start a new day. After that, he used to wander around the pond and refresh himself with the fresh air. In summer days , he cultivated a piece of land and growed beans, blackberries, johnsworts and the like. The depiction of his leisure rurality spontaneously reminds me of Tao Yuanming, the famous Chinese poet, who lived in the Jin Dynasty and made his life meaningful by  returning to the nature and perfecting himself. If Thoreau and Tao Yuanming lived in the same period and place, they would probably become best friends.

From the book, we know that during the years when Thoreau lived near the Walden, he did not completely isolate himself from the outside world. Sometimes he went to the town and did odd jobs and would receive visitors and friends in his cabin at times. As I mention before, the intention for his living in the woods was that he wanted to teach people how to live a simple life, achieve enjoyment from the nature, free oneself from the strained daily life and what is more important is to reevaluate the value of social life.

Thoreau's though of enjoying a simple life has a more realistic significance and have become a valuable spiritual wealth in our modern society. With the development of the material civilization, people's desires are swelling limitlessly and many people are busy with the pursuit of wealth and luxurious life by any means, including at the expense of nature. However, even in the society materially affluent and technologically advanced , people are not be more happier than those people who lived centuries ago, but even feel less satisfactory and complaint more about their present life as a result of having unbounded desires of getting more and better. Therefore, many people who possess a lat have become slaves of machine, working more but do not have the ability to enjoy what they have.

In the book Walden, Thoreau had realize this problem several hundreds ago. Thus, he set his mind to give a enlightenment to awake people and encourage them to live a simple life. His thoughts have great similarity  with the belief of our Chinese humanism, that is, the meaning of life lies in the sane and healthy enjoyment of a simple life. In fact, Thoreau and his teacher and friend Emerson praised highly on Confucianism and both them benefited a lot from it.  I am very happy to see the interlinked place between Chinese culture and western culture.

Reading this book is like having a tranquil steam flow through my heart, washing the dust in my mind. It teaches me how to keep a pure spirit in the complex society, set proper goals for my life as well as enjoy the endows of nature. In short, I feel it quite worthwhile to read the book Walden. I sincerely hope more and more people would like to read this book and receive benefits from it .

瓦尔登湖英文版读后感【2】

英文读后感范文第3篇

---Book Review: “Camille”

I read the Chinese version of “Camille” a few years ago. At that time I was deeply moved by the main character Marguerite Gautier. “Camille” or “The Lady of the Camellias” by Alexandre Dumas, fils, is the story of Marguerite Gautier, a young courtesan, or kept woman, in Paris in the mid 1800's, and how she falls in love with a young man, Armand Duval, and then tries to escape from her questionable past. Unfortunately, it comes back to haunt her and she ends up returning to that life and dies painfully and alone, but with the knowledge that she was a noble woman at heart. When I first began to read the book, I did not care for Marguerite or her attitude or lifestyle, but as I got further into the narrative, I realized that her saucy attitude was a front to cover the lonely woman that she really was. She felt used, abused and unloved, until the gentle Armand Duval came into her life and showed her that he loved her as a person and not for what she could do for him. It must have taken great courage for Marguerite to leave the life she had lived for so long, knowing all along that it was probably too good to be true and would not last indefinitely. And it also showed that Marguerite really loved Armand Duval for she could even change herself for him.

However, happiness didn’t last for long. When M. Duval, Armand's father, came to her, pleading for her to leave Armand to save both Armand's reputation and that of his younger innocent sister, Marguerite saw a way to become pure of heart, if not in body. She felt that it was her duty, because she loved Armand so much, to do this even though it meant giving up her own happiness and hurting Armand temporarily. She reluctantly returned to her former life, knowing that some day Armand would forgive her. Sadly, she died in debt and basically alone, except for her one female friend, Julie Duprat, who helped her during her illness. She had her journal sent to Armand after her death, explaining why she had made the choices she had. I think Dumas's last few lines about Marguerite being the exception, not the rule were quite true, and I also agreed with his view that while her lifestyle could not be condoned, we as a society assume that all of these type of women are cold and heartless, while this may not always be the case. A person can make the wrong choices in life when they are young, and try to redeem themselves, but sometimes past situations prevent them from changing their lives, even though they desperately wish to do so. This applies to both men and women in many different types of circumstances: involvement in crime; drug or alcohol abuse; gambling; prostitution; financial problems; poor marriage choices; etc. And this is the fact, which exists in the whole society.

As far as the other characters in the book, I think Marguerite was right in saying that no one truly cared about her, but only wanted something from her, the only exceptions being Armand and Julie Duprat. Of course, the Comte de G. and Comte de N. wanted her body and appearance. The Duke needed to “wake up and smell the coffee” and realize that she could never replace his dead daughter. If he truly cared, he could have helped her leave her lifestyle without “keeping” her himself. And lastly, Prudence was a blood-sucking leech who used Marguerite almost worse than the men. I also think she was jealous of the fact that Marguerite had so much more courage than herself and someone truly loved her.

英文读后感范文第4篇

That’s the brief plot of Harry Gilbert’s science fiction—。 Based on the reality of increasing environmental problems, the writer uses his full imagination and creativity to produce this vivid imaginative and thought-provoking story.

As far as we know, animal numbers are now diminishing all over the world every years, and the living conditions we depend on a getting worse. We dirty the air with gases and smoke, poison the water with chemicals and other substances and damage the soil with too many fertilizers and pesticides. We also pollute our surroundings in many other ways. Air, water and soil are all very important and necessary to the survival of all living things all over the world. If we human don’t pay more attention to that, there will come a day when we have to live the kind of life described in this novel. As we know, the world is made up not only of human beings but also a lot of other living things. If we don’t want to leave this perfect planet, we have to protect the environment; otherwise, without the company of other living things, people would only be half-alive, men only half-men.

Nowadays, I should say, people have realized the importance of environmental protection and ecological balance. Slogans that remind us to save water and electricity are stuck everywhere, but how many are treated as requirements or duties and not just a piece of paper. If we pay a little attention to our working and study places, we always find some taps half opened with running water, and large numbers of people get used to leave lights on during the day. Dustbins for both recycled and unredeemable rubbish are placed in high density but no one bothers to throw the rubbish into the right dustbins. Nor do they even know what kind of rubbish could be recycled and what kind could not.

Conservation centers for protecting animals are built in many countries. Our government also passed some acts to protect animals; however, there do exist some law-breakers who are driven by money. We plant trees very year, but no one bothers to water and care for them after planting them. For money, some farmers drive their sheep and cattle to grasslands and charge it into desert.
