I am a 15-year-old student in junior Grade 3. Though I am occupied with my study, I would like to spend time on my hobbies, such as playing the piano, surfing the Internet.

I spent this summer vacation in quite a different way. I used to run about every day in previous summer vacations, but this summer vacation I simply could not afford to do so. I would soon be in the last year of my high-school education and would after graduation be up against the college entrance examinations. Though those examinations were still a year away, I had to start early to make myself well prepared by reviewing all those things I had learned at school and this summer vacation was the ideal time for me to do this. At first I was rather dismayed at the thought of this, but later I thought it was better this way because by working hard this summer I could count on endless happy summers to come. Pressure is a serious problem in today’s world。 Students in our class are under too much pressure。 Some students can’t get on well with their classmates, while others may worry about their exams。

一、文化全球化
全球化是文化全球化的前提,经济全球化是文化全球化的基础。文化是指一个国家或地区及其民族在社会历史发展过程中所创造的物质文化和精神文化的总和。近年来,文化全球化与文化民族性和文化多元化的关系成为国内学者关注的焦点。美国语言学家拉多指出:“我们不掌握文化背景就不能教好语言,语言是文化的一部分,因此,不懂得文化的模式和准则,就不可能真正学习语言。”在大学英语写作教学过程中,培养学生文化全球化意识,对提高学生的英语写作能力极其重要。Cortazzi M和Jin L指出:“了解文化差异,意味着了解另一文化群体成员,包括他们的行为、期待、观点和价值观,并试着了解他们做事的理由。”因此学生需要了解中英文在语篇,语句结构和意识形态的特质,从而创建与大学英语写作相关的语篇图式知识,语句表述模式和文化多元化意识。
二、调查问卷分析
本次调查对象是武汉科技大学2015级244名本科生,学生来自物理,化工,计算机,城市建设,管理,冶金等不同专业。调查形式是问卷,问卷54个题,其中4个开放式问答题。调查问卷发送244份,收集有效问卷238份,问卷从三个方面对大学生英语写作情况进行调查。
(1)学生英语语篇组织能力
32.8%学生不熟悉议论文,记叙文,说明文的文体特征;31.7%学生在写作过程中不会套用现成的模板;10.8%学生动笔之前没有思考如何组织观点;44%学生写作文之前会做一些笔记,记下要包括的观点或者关键词;20%学生表示有足够的素材进行写作。
(2)学生英语写作时的遣词造句
关于写作的用词和语法,58%学生在写的时候会注意语法是否正确:60%学生认为很难选择恰当的词语来遣词造句;84.8%学生会尽量想出别的句子来表达同样的意思;49.2%学生不会写完了再回头思考,寻找合适的词。关于作文修改时关注的重点,56.7%学生修改时主要关注文章的内容和意思的表达;54.8%学生修改时主要关注语法,错别字和标点;34.6%学生修改时主要关注文章的结构。
(3)学生的中英文思维
62.8%学生写作时大多数时候用中文构思并造句,然后翻译成英文;57.7%学生写作时主要用中文构思,但用英文遣词造句:15%学生写作时主要用英文构思并遣词造句。
三、教学建议
(1)重视英语语篇教学
根据调查数据,大部分学生不了解典型文体的语篇结构和特征。中英文篇章的组织有鲜明的特征:英语篇章是“直线型”的而汉语篇章是“螺旋型”的;西方人习惯于直线式思维方式,阐述观点时喜欢直截了当,把话题放在最前面,以引起听者或读者的注意而中国人习惯于以直觉、具体和圆式为特征的思维方式。学生英语写作文体单一,英语应用文练习不足,英语实际写作能力不足,不熟悉英语不同文体特征和写作框架结构。学生英语写作是为了完成教师课堂作业或者通过英语考试,学生平时很少或者基本没有自觉的英语写作练习。学生英语写作是应试作文,学生的写作对象是阅卷教师,所以学生会通过背诵英语范文或者英语考试作文模板来提高英语作文水平。英语写作教学需要增强英语语篇教学,让学生了解熟悉英语不同文体的特征以及英语写作的典型框架结构。
(2)改进英语词汇语法教学
问卷表明学生对修辞和写作规范等方面的知识储备不足。英语属于印欧语系,而汉语属于汉藏语系,两种语言相差悬殊:英语结构紧凑而汉语结构相对松散:英语的句子由各种不可缺的连接词衔接而成,而汉语的句子少用甚至不用连接词仍行文流畅;英语句子中主谓结构鲜明构成全句的主干,其它修饰、限制、补充等附加成分构成主干上的旁支,构成一种“多枝共干”的树型结构,然而汉语句子属于线型结构,是以词序或语义为中心。汉语句子没有主谓框架限制,也没有谓语动词和非谓语动词之分,可以几个动词连用,或几个名词性短语并列。
学生写作时会关注语法是否正确,能写简单结构的句子,但不能完成复杂结构句子,不习惯用连接词,语句间逻辑不清楚或者混乱。学生不会根据语境选择恰当的词语,存在词语语用错误,用词单一无变化,书面语口语混用。教师需要改进传统的词汇语法教学,重视词语的使用语境。教师可以采用各种练习使学生熟悉词汇的语境和注重语句的连接。
(3)增强学生文化全球化意识和批判能力
调查数据显示仅有15%左右学生用英文构思并写作,60%以上的学生用中文构思。学生作文的中文思维是造成学生作文中国人能看懂,但外国人看不明白的主要原因。语言与文化相互依赖、相互影响。语言是文化的体现形式之一,也是文化的重要载体,对文化的传承起着举足轻重的作用;文化制约着语言,文化的性质内涵决定了在此文化背景下的语言的表现方式。要理解语言必须先了解语言所承载的文化,反过来,深刻了解某种文化就能进一步加深对其语言的理解,有利于更加准确地运用其语言。英语写作教学时教师多做语句训练,学生写作主观性强,不做写作素材收集和调查。学生作文内容空洞,千文一面,内容重合性高,没有鲜明的个人观点,喜欢喊口号。另外,学生缺乏中国文化向西方传播的意识,文化敏感性不强,没有批判意识和质疑精神。英语教学需要增加中西方文化文本,教学中可以做同一议题下多角度文本写作,增强学生文化全球化意识和提高学生的独立思考能力。

An Embarrassing Morning
I had a bad morning. First of all, I was late for school. My head teacher Mr. Li was very angry with me. The second class was math. My favourite film star is Kim Soo Hyun. He is famous all over the world.
Kim Soo Hyun was born on 16 February, 1988. He was born in Seoul, South Korea. In 2007, he started acting. He is tall and handsome. He is an experienced actor and he is good at singing and dancing.
Since his first scene play The Pickled Cheese Smile, Kim Soo Hyun has acted in many successful films and dramas, including Dream High in 2011, Secretly Greatly in 2013, My Love from the Star in 2013. He won several international awards such as the Award for Best New Actor at the Korean Grand Bell Awards in 2013. He also won an Award for Best Actor from the Seoul International Film Festival in 2014.
Kim Soo Hyun is considered by many people as a superstar. I believe his acting skills will be even better in the future.An English Corner
Our class wants to hold an English Corner. I made a survey to see how my classmates think about it. Most of them think it is a good idea, but 30% of them don’t.
Some think the English Corner can make their school life more colorful. They can also learn something new. What’s more, they can practise their oral English there. But others don’t think so. They say they have too much homework to do. They have little time for the English Corner. Some of them are not good at expressing their own ideas in English, so they don’t want to speak English at all.
In my opinion, we should have such an English Corner. If we are not good at speaking English, we should practise more.
